How to Perform Umrah

1

Ihram – The Sacred State

Before reaching the Miqat (boundary), pilgrims enter the state of Ihram by wearing the prescribed white garments, making the intention (niyyah), and reciting the Talbiyah: "Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk..."

2

Tawaf – Circling the Kaaba

Upon reaching Al-Masjid Al-Haram, pilgrims perform Tawaf — circling the Kaaba seven times in an anti-clockwise direction, beginning and ending at the Black Stone (Hajar Al-Aswad).

3

Sa'i – Walking Between Safa & Marwa

After Tawaf, pilgrims perform Sa'i — walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa, commemorating the actions of Hajar (AS) in her search for water.

4

Halq or Taqsir – Shaving or Cutting Hair

The final rite of Umrah involves men either shaving their heads (Halq) or cutting their hair short (Taqsir). Women cut a small portion of their hair. This marks the completion of Umrah and exit from the state of Ihram.
